About the Network

This network was founded by an initiative group, which has submitted the Expression of Interest for the Network of Excellence under 7th Framework Program of EU in the fields of nanotechnology and spintronics. ARTMAG consists of several scientific groups with significant achievements in physics of nanomagnetism originating from both Polish Academy of Sciences and Polish Universities.

They all posses or have access to modern experimental equipment assuring the highest level of undertaken studies. All partners of ARTMAG network are or were participating in EU Centres of Excellence, are realizing projects financed by EU and Polish government.

The network was founded answering a need of coordination and integration of scientific research, which is now a clear trend in EU.

The network topics are related to a new, dynamically developing branch of science called spintronics. Spintronics deals with magnetic systems and structures where one or more dimensions is reduced to nanometer size.

Polish National Network ARTMAG - "Magnetic nanostructures for spintronics" was established to coordinate works on:

• elaboration of preparation technology of new magnetic nanomaterials
• elaboration of new methods of imaging of magnetic structures
• building on this basis proper nanostructures for application as spintronic elements e.g. spin valves or magnetic tunnel junctions
